I became my own role model

Vincent McDoom

My mother was my first role model. Growing up, I wanted to be just like her.

I also modeled myself after a long list of tall, beautiful film and television actresses I wanted to emulate.

Then there were my transgender role models... all those gals who were completely open about being trans. I am referring to the likes of Michael/Miqqi Gilbert and Grayson Perry, who are well-known in their respective fields as guys, but occasionally (or often) present as gals and damn the torpedoes. And Vincent McDoom and Vladimir Luxuria, who present as women full-time, but are open about the fact that their sex is male.

I wanted to be just like them when I grew up.

I will be celebrating my 68th birthday in a couple of weeks, so I guess I grew up.

And like my transgender role models, I am open about being trans, I am well-known in my field and I often present as a gal.

I did not realize it until now, but I guess I succeeded in being just like my transgender role models.

  1. Stana, Not only are you a ROLE MODEL, you are practically a CULTURAL ICON inside and OUTSIDE this community.
I (among others) have been invited to be BRIDESMAIDS(!) for a couple inside our TS-CD support group just became engaged. Needless to say, I am thrilled, and so inspired, did a 'google image search' on related topics for being an 'unconventional bridesmaid'. Regardless of how the search progressed, regardless of the wording of the search parameters, practically every search result page had at least one photo/link to 'femulate.org'. Truly a 'cultural icon', you are!
DO keep 'kickin it' at your upcoming age 68, apparently age 68 is the new 'FIVE-O'. Best Regards, Velma age 65 (shopping for wrinkle cream!)

  2. I only wish that in 15 years I will look as fabulous as you do, Stana! And I would absolutely wear that Bergdorf suit in the Femulate Her photo.

  3. Thanks, Stana, for introducing us to Vincent McDoom. What a stunning person and personality. Vincent presents as a glamorous model, yet uses no padding, etc to hide the male or appear to have a woman's body. How wonderful it must be to be gorgeous and impossibly slender!
