Another Trump Presidency Would Be A Nightmare For Trans People

The reality unfolding in Florida today is just a microcosm of what the United States could look like if Donald Trump were to be elected president this November.

The reality unfolding in Florida today is just a microcosm of what the United States could look like if Donald Trump were to be elected president this November, according to a nearly 1,000-page document that lays out goals and recommendations for a conservative president. The “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise,” better known as Project 2025, draws upon many of the current state-level anti-LGBTQ+ laws and policies and expands them to the national stage by any means necessary.

Authored by former Trump officials and dozens of right-wing organizations including the Heritage Foundation, nearly every page of Project 2025 details policies that would impact LGBTQ+ people — and there’s a particular focus on transgender people. On the very first page of the manifesto, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts laments the “corruption” of the country “under the ruling and cultural elite” whose children “suffer the toxic normalization of transgenderism with drag queens and pornography invading their school libraries.”

Many of the document’s suggestions are things that advocates say Trump could enact on his first day through a series of executive orders, like barring trans people from the military, and removing gender-affirming care and abortion from veteran health care policies. The document also calls for policies to redefine sex as “biological sex,” which not only effectively erases the legal recognition and protection of transgender people but goes against modern science.

Project 2025 also recommends rolling back Bostock v. Clayton County, the Supreme Court decision that protects LGBTQ+ people from employment discrimination; eliminating the promotion of gender-affirming care for minors nationwide; reinterpreting Title IX to permit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity; and abolishing the Department of Education and returning “control of education to the states.”

  1. Please Please don’t let Trump back. How can anybody in their right mind think about backing him.

  2. He must never be allowed to be president again. There is no greater threat to kindness, acceptance, and empathy in our country.

  5. I live in a state that trans-friendly and a destination for women seeking reproductive services. That being said, I doubt many people actually know or even have met a trans person, yet, some people foam at the mouth like rapid dogs when any trans issues is raised. Some people seem to always need someone to hate. It was stated in a book written long before Herr Trump got into politics that he kept a copy of Mein Kampf on his nightstand. Not only is it necessary to defeat Trump, it is necessary to defeat his supporters all the way down the ticket in November. Local schools and libraries are under attack which is as local as one can get,

    1. One small correction to your comment: It wasn’t Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” on his nightstand, but rather a collection of Hitler’s speeches which is arguably worse. It has been noted some of TFG’s recent speeches seem to have been taken directly from the infamous Nazi leader.

  6. I watch these Trump rallies on the news. He is a moron! Liar thief criminal. Worst yet all these dumbasses that believe him. How does he stay out of jail? All he does is cry about being cheated. If you remember he started that in August before the election. Stopped the census too. Some people think they will get another stimulus check if he is elected. Some level of justice system please lock him up!

  7. It's not just us. That guy who looks like Nosferatu -- Steven Miller -- has many other targets. Gay marriage is on the hit list, as is contraception. Scary. And they're looking at potentially gutting the US Civil Service by installing political appointees in all the management positions -- that means from GS 12 to GS-18. That would devastate our DC/Baltimore workforce., many of whom are femulators who I see at meetings. And it goes without saying that we would no longer have the best Civil Service in the world. All of us need to work to see the orange menace defeated again.

  8. A couple of important points:
    1) All polls should be ignored, especially since November is still seven months away and a LOT can happen between now and Election Day.

    2) It is especially important that we encourage everyone we know to register to vote and to vote BLUE down the ticket, especially if they (or you) live in a “battleground state” or a Red state. Remember, it is NOT the popular vote that matters, but rather the votes in the electoral college. In 2016, TFG lost the popular vote, but still became POTUS. If Democrats get complacent, a repeat of 2016 could happen.

    1. I would also recommend people attend any meetings of "Red" candidates and ask their position of abortion, LGBTQ issues and book banning, etc. I find it incredulous that members of the House of Representatives never have their feet held to the fire by local voters.
