Sunday Night at the Movies

Sunday night, TCM showed three films related to New York City subways. The Taking of Pelham One Two Three was the first film in the TCM line-up. It is one of my favorite films, so I watched it.

Daybreak Express, a five-minute film about the Third Avenue elevated subway, was the second film in the lineup. You can view it on YouTube

The third film, The Incident, was new to me. The plot according to IMDB, “Late one night, two young toughs hold hostage the passengers in one car of a New York subway train.”

The film featured an excellent cast, so I gave it a look.

Wow! It was intense and I am glad I watched it. (You can view it too on YouTube.)

What's this got to do with femulating? Fast-forward to the 33:23 mark of The Incident and I think you will agree with my selection for today’s Femulate Her slot.

  2. OMG Started watching this film, the footage of 1960's NYC brings back memories of childhood, so gritty and real.

And Jan Sterling (sigh) when dames were dames!!!!

    1. I much prefer the gritty and real NYC of the past as compared to the current Disney-ized version, especially as related to Times Square.

    1. Because of the quantity of images I had on flickr, flickr required that I have a "Pro" account, which came with an annual fee. Initially, the fee was insignificant, but the past few years, it became more significant and when it hit the $50 mark, I decided to delete my account.

  4. Gritty and with a lot of punch -- Like most of those noir films. I agree with you about the "sanitized" NYC. It's probably safer but also getting vanilla. And they don't have the 82 Club anymore! What I didn't like was the cops instantly going after the "N...". I've seen more than enough of that stuff, and it isn't much
better today. At least there are cell phones now, not that it seems to make much of difference.

Oh, and Ed McMahon made the right choice when he moved to being the #2 for Johnny Carson!
