Better Red?

I have a box of wigs that I have purchased over the years that I no longer wear. I had some time to kill before my Zoom presentation last week, so I decided to try on every wig in the box.

A couple looked good on me and I will wear them again. A few that I recall looking good on me in the past did nothing for me now. And the majority did not look good at all; I wondered what possessed me to buy them in the first place. Maybe they looked better on a younger and/or fatter me – go figure.

One that I don’t recall purchasing nor wearing interested me. Did I buy it and never wear it? I don’t recall, but I thought with a little cleaning and grooming, it might look nice on me. It is a Paula Young wig called Chantel in copper red, a color that I often wore until I went blond 15 years ago.

That’s me wearing Chantel in the accompanying photo. Is it a keeper or a loser?

Winner! As an olive skinned gal who looks awful as a redhead, if you can pull off red hair go for it. It also gives you a retro glamour kind of feel

  2. I really like the red hair; go for it!

  3. It suits you and you look good with reddish hair.Depends whether people are so used to seeing you as a blonde now. not all women of a certain age go blonde as an alternative to white/grey, and keep their darker colour hair.

The wig is definitely a keeper...but then I always think redheads are beautiful!

  8. Keeper - definitely! I think you look better with darker hair, and the red suits your personality well (imho)

  11. Dear Stana,

You’re so attractive that you look good in any color wig. However, I prefer you as a Blonde.

    Love,

    Sheila.

  17. Reading the book of Elijah Wood, it appears they are gender fluid. While one review uses the pronouns she and her, the main body of the book uses the pronouns them, they and their.
But being gender fluid is the least interesting fact about Elijah, as the bio descibes an impressive array of talent and experience.

  18. Thanks for the link to Elijah Wood. How incredible to be able to live one's life "in the middle". While we live in often troubled times, we also live in a time when gender fluid people are recognized and can live openly. Are they attacked?? Of course they are, but we have the power to eliminate the hater/enabler-in-charge this November. Let's stay focused on that and take another big step toward individual freedoms!

  19. Your coloring it great for red hair! You pretty ladies seem to be able to blend in pretty much everywhere. Of course, I always think red is a good choice. Fortunately for me my circumstances allow me to buzz around with my long but fading red hair. So maybe I'm just a little biased.

  20. I owned a Paula Young Chantel a few years ago, I must say it looks exceptional on you Stana. I believe it's the color that works very well with your style.

I used to go to the Paula Young factory store in West Bridgewater Mass all the time for my wigs. They are VERY TG friendly and I was treated so well with respect and compassion.

The customers were always curious and made friends with me also.

So if anyone is looking for a fun place for an outing try the Paula Young factory store.

BTW they will let you try on as many wigs as you like too!

  22. I think it works for you. You're as beautiful as ever.

What do you do with wigs that no longer work?
