Lana, Gore and Stana

2012-08-01_lana-wachowski Yesterday, I referenced a report on The Huffington Post about the transition of film director Lana Wachowski (photo right).

Today, I refer you to a commentary about Lana’s transition written by Andrew O’Hehir on Salon.

Titled “Lana Wachowski’s quiet coming-out party,” it is well worth reading.

In other trans-related news, Gore Vidal, the author of Myra Breckinridge, died yesterday at the age of 98 86.

Oh, how well I remember reading Myra back in 1968 when I was a young budding femulator. The book was an eye opener and funny, too.

  1. I had wanted to see the movie Myra Breckenridge but since it was X rated I did not. It always struck me as odd that the Myron/Myra role was given to Raquel. Surely she was one of the most beautiful women of the day but it just seemed wrong that a real woman played that part rather than a femulator.

  2. And the sequel, Myron Breckenridge stunk. Ah well.

  3. The reviews for Myra, the film, were so bad that I never saw it.

  4. Speaking NOT of Myra, although Gore's passing is well noted and sad, in the case of Lana, knowing does not alter talent!
