Passing in the COVID-19 Vaccine Line

When Connecticut announced that people my age could get the COVID-19 vaccine, I worried that making an appointment would be difficult after hearing the horror stories about people unable to make appointments. But it turned out to be easy – I got online and in less than five minutes, I made an appointment for my wife and I for March 11 at a facility 10 miles from our home.

We arrived at the facility on time yesterday morning and were greeted with great news: it was the first day that this facility would be using the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine rather than a two-shot vaccine! What luck!

So we got in line with about six people ahead of us. The line moved quickly and we found ourselves at the “Registration” window staffed by a twenty-something women, who asked us our names.

I told her our names and wise-ass that I am, I added, “I'm Stanley and she’s Laurie.”

She replied, “Oh, I don’t know – I think you could pass for a ‘Laurie.’”

I was in boy mode at the time.

  2. That reminds me of the closing on my parent’s house, the closing was before I transitioned.
The lawyer said that there was a typo on the closing paperwork, they feminized my male name!
Now you have to understand their lawyer used to live a couple of houses down from my parent’s house and we went to school together. I used to crossdress (what I thought was in secret) when I lived there. Our lawyer was a friend from the trans support group and crossdressed. My brother knew that I was planning on transitioning.
The three of us looked at one another thinking “Did he know?” and once we left the office the three of us started laughing.
A few years latter the lawyer that made the mistake drew up my will, living will, and power of attorney, and I asked him about it, he said that he never knew that I crossdressed. I always wondered if he did or not.

  3. Sounds like what happened to me several times where I was misidentified while in "male" mode.

  4. Being an actor, I have done drag roles on stage. Sometimes at the office I get to share photos of those performances. Every time the women say, "Wow, you look GOOD" I want to scream out "I KNOW! I enjoy being a woman!" and it makes me want to show up the next day as Julie. However, being a clerk at the oldest law firm in the Pacific NW, I don't think it would be looked on very favorably. (sigh)

  5. I watched the trailer for Pop Kowboy, Craig Olson's femulating is wonderful. It looks like his only acting role on IMBD. Too bad.
