Press-on Nails?
When I dress I love to use press-on nails (Kiss brand usually) to make my hands look a bit more feminine. How about you?
Some CDs have difficulty finding press-on nails that adequately cover their own nails. I’m fortunate that I have relatively small hands and my own nails aren’t that wide. So I have a wide range of choices in nail color and length. For some reason though, I’m a sucker for longer, red nails. Yes, I do have some shorter ones. And some pink or French manicure style press-ons. I try to select a style, color and length that compliments my outfit and is suitable for the occasion.
Some Things Are Harder
My normal guy nails are nothing special. I do get a manicure every two weeks combined with a pedicure every second visit. But I just get a normal guy manicure with clear polish. By the way, nobody has ever mentioned the fact that I wear clear polish on my nails in guy mode. If you haven’t had a manicure you are missing a fun experience.
In guy mode, I don’t have to think about how to do things with guy nails because they are my everyday reality. But I find that in girl mode, when I use the press-on nails I need to make adjustments. Trying to pick up something small off a hard surface can take several attempts. Using a touch screen device sometimes requires tapping with a knuckle instead of a fingertip. Those are just a couple of examples of things I’ve learned to do by trial and error. I think the biggest issue is that using press-on nails is an abrupt change for us. We don’t get to learn as our nails grow over time or deal with them day-to-day as women do.
Still, I enjoy seeing feminine looking nails when I’m dressed. Just looking at them on the steering wheel driving or when I’m picking up my beverage at a restaurant – those are some of the different sensations that I enjoy experiencing when being JJ.
I’ll Be Back
As always comments are welcome either here on the blog or by email to Jenn6nov at-sign gmail dot com. JJ is always looking for more stuff so if there is something you would like to read about please let me know!

I had my nails done professionally just before Halloween. After searching the internet, what I get is called a dip powder manicure.
ReplyDeleteThe benefit for me is that aside from when I had surgery and removed the fake nails from my index fingers, I've not broken a nail. Before discovering this wonderful extravagance, I was constantly breaking a nail doing the most basic things. I get many compliments about my nails at work, too. It's so worth it.
I chose an emerald cat's eye paint for my latest manicure. It's pretty amazing looking with a bit of a 3D effect.
I'm a bad customer though because I wait too long to get them filled. I should go more frequently than once monthly but financially it's what I can swing.
I hope anyone who wishes to get their nails done takes the chance at least once.
Heather.
JJ here - I'm familiar with with the dip power manicure as that's what my wife gets when we visit the nail salon each week. It's done wonders for her nails too.
DeleteIf I have any suggestions to a new nail wearer it would be not to go too long or too thick! Either way, it can be hard to pick things up. Both have their own other challenges, too. I've uploaded photos of my nails to my blog which sometimes shows up in the sidebar of Stana's page.

My wife was just telling me I need some Stars and Stripes clothing for the upcoming 4th I wonder what her reaction would be if I showed up wearing one of the parade outfits I really like the one with the full Stan’s short skirts.
ReplyDeleteI also love my press on nails my dressing sessions aren’t complete without a feminine style nail. Fortunately I’m also blessed with small hands it definitely makes it easier to find good fitting nails.
I've just recently discovered the 24pcs fake nail sets from TEMU. I have large hands and their largest nail just covers my thumb nail. I love them. I have at least 10 different sets now and 2 extra packages of my favorite pair. They're the highlight of my dressing sessions now.
ReplyDeleteI got some fireworks ones for the 4th. So l just need the perfect outfit. I love the one in the front row, 2nd from the left.
Randi
JJ here - good tip Randi! I know a lot of the members of our community have difficulty finding the larger sizes of nails.
DeleteWhat a time for this subject. I decided to grow mine out. I have polished my fingers with clear for over a year. I trimmed them for a Memorial Day cookout last time. There about a half inch long now. I want to let them grow as long as I can. The lady at the gas station asked “do you have your nails done “. I told her I do them myself and all my wife’s pedicures too. Do people really notice how long they are? Do I really care they’re mine. Clear on my toes too.
ReplyDeleteJJ here - How nice that you do your wife's nails as well as your own. Obviously you're managing just fine with the long nails. Was it hard to adjust?
DeleteNot really! If I break one I’ll just start all over. Don’t do a lot of manual things. Wife cooks I clean and do dishes which helps keep them clean.
DeleteHi JJ!
ReplyDeleteThe newer press on nails look absolutely fab, but that said, I wore them on my first outing, found them to be a crippling experience, and have painted my own ever since.
I keep my nails slightly longer now, but nothing that attracts undue attention as male, but do keep them clean and buffed.
I’ve no hesitation about going out with no polish and note a lot of women do not.
Painting them takes some practice, but I can do it fairly quickly now, and am only limited on days I do not have time to let them dry. On a weekend or extended time out I’ll do something fancy, but for an evening dinner or something just a simple coat of a single color is fairly quick.
Norah
JJ Here - Good to hear from you Norah. My guy nails are actually pretty short since I get manicures every two weeks. I haven't tried to paint my own nails as I just don't want to deal with removing the color afterwards.
DeleteBuy a box of acrylic nails and make a set for your hands, trimming and polishing them as you like. Also buy a packet of “nail tabs”, small double sided adhesive stickers that glue the fake nail to your real nails. This accommodates both wide nails and cost considerations. Remove the nails by carefully sliding a toothpick under them and remove the tabs with tweezers. You can reuse the nails over and over and just replace as needed.
ReplyDeleteJJ Here - Thanks for the suggestion about making your own nails. Good tip!
DeleteHi JJ , yes for me the press on nails makes all the work of difference. The past few years they get harder to find and more expensive than ever but worth it. I don't think femulation is complete with out them if you are dressing up that warrants them. I understand some women can't live without painted nails where others it's a part time thing. Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteThanks for chiming in Brenda! I know my SO loves her painted nails and gets them done every 2 weeks. JJ
