It's the Pits

Back in August, I purchased a Philips Norelco Bodygroomer. Sunday morning, while using the bodygroomer, I used it to shave something I have previously avoided: my armpits.

In the past, I tried using my rotary head electric razor to shave my armpits. It removed the hair, but left a nasty itchy rash that lasted for days. Having learned my lesson, I used a manual razor with a shaving gel to shave my pits after that bad experience.

When I used the bodygroomer to shave on Sunday, I decided to try it on my armpit hair as an experiment. Surprisingly, it removed all the hair, but it did not irritate the skin.

I will never use my rotary head electric razor again in that neck of the woods, but I now have two shaving options to do the job..

  2. Can any of you ladies remember the name of a British comedy about a touring WWII entertainment troupe -- I think John Cleese was in it.

Here's a link to a troupe of Kiwi entertainers during WWII https://digitalnz.org/stories/5a03a63a1257575ebf00085e

    2. It would be “It Ain’t Half Hot Mum”. Not John Cleese but a similar looking guy was in it. My family used to watch it back in the seventies. I LOVED the femukations they used to do!!

  3. There's an article, "We Girls" about British WWII POW entertainment that focuses on female impersonator Bobby Spong. It's a download, noit a URL, so find it with a Google search.

Also, the first English transgender woman, Roberta Cowell, "got her start", so to speak, playing women in a German POW camp during WWII.

  4. The PITS INDEED!.... Women know, you may not, that you can get one HUGE infection at the armpit from shaving known as 'folliculitis'-- an infection of sometimes only ONE hair follicle. I had such infection of a singular hair follicle that grew to the size profile and color of a small, ripe (and extremely PAINFUL) MANGO! The cure was an entire months course of Doxycycline antibiotic.
Coincidentally, I also had an un-diagnosed case of LYME DISEASE from a tic bite 12 years earlier that my MD did not believe to be LYME's. Toward the end of the doxy course, my symptoms of arthritis, depression, ADD and general brain fog suddenly disappeared. I immediately ceased the Celebrex, Prozac and Ritalin meds because of the complete remission of related symptoms.
In a strange sense, the folliculitis saved mefrom further years of un-diagnosed suffering. Velma
