Trans Mascots

From The Cut Monday came this, "As women across America deal with a wage gap, a lack of paid maternity leave, the threat of decreased reproductive rights, and rampant sexual misconduct, brands have responded by bravely … making female versions of their mascots?"

The article pointed out that Brawny paper towels rolled out a flannel shirt–clad Brawny Woman, Reba McEntire became the first woman to play KFC’s Colonel Sanders and Johnnie Walker just introduced a “Jane Walker” logo toto “draw more women to the world’s best-selling scotch and acknowledge a broader push toward gender equality.”

The piece concluded with a list of 15 other male mascots who could be feminized, like The Jolly Green Giantess, Ms. Peanut, The Pillsbury Doughgirl, etc.

Which begs the question, what's good for the goose is good for the gander?

Mr. Betty Crocker
So how about...

πŸ‘  Coppertone Boy

πŸ‘  Land O Lakes Indian Male Maid

πŸ‘  Mr. Butterworth

πŸ‘  Sun-Maid Boy

πŸ‘  Uncle Jemima

πŸ‘  Utz Boy

πŸ‘  Little Mr. Sunbeam

πŸ‘  Morton Salt Boy

πŸ‘  St. Pauli Boy

πŸ‘  Wendell's Hamburger Boy

And so it goes!

  1. After linking to the article in 'THE CUT',... The reference to "Brawny Woman" seems a WHOLE LOT INSINCERE as Brawny has been mentioned as being owned by 'The Koch (Read: Right Wing Proto Nazi 'KRAUT')Bros...

    1. Dear Barbra Anne,

Thank You for the link to "Carlotta". I just watched the entire film. It was very good. There's a Wikipedia article on the real Carlotta that includes a link to her website and Facebook page. There's a YouTube video of her when she was in her 20's that shows how much the actress that played her in the film looks like her. Carlotta chose the cis-gender woman to play her because of the similarity in their looks, and because she was a fan of the actress. Some transgender women did not like a cis-gender woman playing Carlotta ... but since the real Carlotta chose her, why should anyone else have an issue with her choice?

      Love,

      Sheila.
