I Was Out

IMG_1234_web I did not sleep well Tuesday night and when I rose Wednesday morning, I felt so tired that I considered cancelling my day out en femme. But since my day off from work was already approved, I stuck to my plans.

Shave, coffee, shower, coffee, makeup, coffee, dress-up, coffee --- all in slow motion. I wore my new DressBarn dolman sleeve hunter green sweater dress, Hue black tights, Nine West black patent stiletto pumps, and lots of colorful bling (see photo).

I was out the door at 9:45 AM and at the casino at 11 AM. The selfie accompanying this post was taken just minutes before I slipped into my coat and car and drove to Mohegan Sun.

There was not much traffic in the casino gaming rooms, so there was no problem finding unoccupied slot machines. I expected that the casino would be a little busier considering it was the holiday season, but I was wrong. The "crowd" that did show up was an odd mix: guys in their 20s and 30s and little old ladies with walkers. There also were a handful of women of various ages who were dressed-up, so I did not feel out of place.

The lighting in the Mohegan Sun gaming rooms is dim, so from afar, I look like a big blonde of the female gender. As a result, guys check me out and that was the case on Wednesday. I noticed some guys checking me out from afar and a few that made a close approach for a better look, but no one got any closer.

The slot machines were not very cooperative, so after an hour of putting money in and not getting money out, I took a break and did some window-shopping in the mall that connects the two huge gaming rooms.

I visited a few stores, but did not find anything of interest to gift to the occupants of my Christmas list.

I did buy some makeup for myself at Sephora and I had accumulated enough points to add some "free" makeup to my shopping bag. Sephora is my favorite makeup store --- the sales reps are very helpful and the young woman who greeted me on Wednesday stuck to my side until I found exactly what I needed. She also graciously accepted my request to take my photo.

I returned to the slot machines and had better luck in the afternoon, but overall, it was not a profitable day. And the lack of sleep was taking its toll, so I decided to make my exit at 3 PM.

When I got in my car, I realized that my gas tank was low and I might not make it home on what was remaining. So the last thing I did en femme on Wednesday was pump gas!

Any questions?

  1. Stana,
The real beauty and special quality of the day you spent out and about en femme was the very ho-hum, blase' nature of everything that you did. Ho-hum...wake up tired and have coffee while dressing. Ho-hum...driving to the casino. Ho-hum...playing the slots and doing some shopping. Blase' stopping for gas and heading home. Everything fit and worked out and a day was spent mingling with the civilian population. Absolutely wonderful.
BTW you look great in the photo.

    1. After I wrote the post, I thought that maybe I should add something about how blase I sound, but I guess that is a good thing! Thank you for the kind words, Pat.

    2. It is the blase', ho-hum nature of the post that shows the progress you have made. If you had a similar day 4-5 years ago it would have needed three days of posts to cover the event. You would have described the level of anticipation getting dressed, your makeup routine (daytime colors vs. evening makeup), your efforts to coordinate your shoes to your dress... You would have described the drive over in detail, including time, distance and route and whether you wore your heels while driving and perhaps a mention of shifting the Subaru in heels. You would have mentioned where the hem of your dress crossed your thigh when standing and whether it rode up higher as you sat in the seat playing the slots. You likely would have mentioned each store that you stopped at and the reactions of people in each venue. Rather than a passing comment about getting gas you would have likely mentioned the breeze on your legs as you pumped self serve.

As they formerly said in those old commercials "You've come a long way baby".

  2. Stana, you look more rested on your tired days than I do after a full night's sleep! Glad to hear you kept your date with yourself (and the casinos). Have a great holiday!

  4. Stana:

Well played. Sorry the slots were not working for you that day, but you floated through the day so well as Stana -- just being your fabulous self -- that your win was your success at being just another hot chick, er um, I mean gorgeous lady enjoying the games. Again, well played, indeed.

I've longed to take Rhonda to the casino, but my choices are Atlantic city, very crowded with glammed up youth, or Charles Town, WV, where I don't expect Rhonda would feel very welcome. I understand that there is a new casino in Maryland, but have not found it to check it out yet. But your expo louts strengthen my resolve to just "do it."

    Best,
    Rhonda

    1. Hi Rhonda,

The Connecticut casinos are very trans-friendly or, at least, Stana-friendly!

    2. Dear Stana,

Very clever cartoon! It shows we can still be pretty in any situation. And, you ALWAYS look beautiful in EVERY photo. And, your inner ideas expressed in your writing ALWAYS highlight your inner beauty.

      You go, girl!

      Love,

      Sheila.

  7. Sorry you did so poorly at the slots but glad (very) that you got to be femme. You are very believable as a woman, and always have been, your selfie shows that and you prove it! I applaud you for that!

I'm also glad, as others have said, you have accepted being a woman.

    Have a merry Christmas!

  8. Stana - you tell us of these outings ahead of time - do you realize at least one of the people checking you out is likely one of your readers? They likely just wanted to see you, and may have been too shy to say hi.

    1. Hi Fiona,

It happened on two occasions. I know because they were not too shy and they conversed with me. Who knows how many are too shy?

      Happy Holidays,
