ReplyDeleteA little research on IMDB tells us that Yul Brynner's role was uncredited, as was Miriam Karlin, Yul's singing voice. The list of actors in this loony-bins film is as long as your arm!

ReplyDeleteWith all the posts of actors playing female rolls I do not recall any outcry from the general public over content. Where has this nation gone? Rhetorical question, I know the answer.
ReplyDeleteYou want outcry? Maybe this clip should be screened for the guv of Florida or the Tennessee legislature. Can some made-up felony law be far behind? Anything to keep them from doing something substantial or dealing with real problems.
DeleteAs a veteran of watching countless drag shows, I can spot a lip-sync right away. Plus, for some reason Hollywood has always had it's singers do a studio recording and lip sync in the film. Judy Garland was really good at this. We've always seen what drag queens do in any film with music, whether we knew it or not. Yul did an "OK" job in this sequence. Did you check out the femme Yul flirting with Roman Polanski? His Adam's Apple was on full display, but the fabulous makeup work was a great distraction.
