Growing Old Isn't for Sissies

As I close in on my 70th birthday, I am feeling my age. Aches and pains linger longer. I don’t move as fast as I did in the past, but I do get tired faster. My memory is not as good as it used to be and my eyesight is slowly getting worse.

On the other hand, my health is very good. I have no diseases and no prescriptions. And I look young for my age. I’m sure that never smoking and seldom drinking has something to do with it. Applying creams and moisturizers on a daily basis helps, too.

That being said, when I was younger, I assumed that when I became a senior citizen, I would not want to femulate because I would be an old lady. The desire to crossdress would dry up just like my youth. Who wants to look like an old lady? So I would abandon femulating and rest on my laurels.

Wrong!

The desire to femulate is stronger than ever. I want to femulate as often as possible because time is running out. But I feel so frustrated because the pandemic is keeping my femulations at bay.

I do dress to the nines at home to keep in shape for future outings, but dressing up with no place to go is so boring. The holidays usually offer many opportunities to dress to kill, but not this year!

I am so anxious to femulate that I plan to dress en femme when I go to get vaccinated.

  1. Stana, that LBD and sexy heels are fantastic, you look nothing like an almost-70-year-old. I've always felt that femulating takes at least 10-15 years off your real age. Being in my mid-50s, I try to dress like other women in their 40s.

I am also trying to be patient with the pandemic as I cannot dress at home. I had one opportunity back in September to get out and made the most of it. Let's hope that the vaccine will help us all return to a more social lifestyle!

  2. Tina is correct re: the age reduction. Try to keep from my mind the question "what do I do when I am so infirm that I can no longer live on my own? " become a grouchy old man? emily

  3. OMG. This is exactly the way I am. The only thing I would change is to put Jocelyn as the writer instead of Stana.

You are so perceptive of us older women. Thanks Stana, I love your thoughts.

  4. Stana, I'd put you in the middle fifties. You are remarkable.

Unfortunately age does catch up with some of us. At 78 I have so many wrinkles and facial folds that I think my feminine days are gone!

  5. I feel the same way and I am a "born" female. I love fashion, makeup and dressing up but there are no opportunities for that at present. I miss going out, of course we all do for our different reasons. Stana you look great in your LBD and those killer heels. I don't know how you can stand in them.

  6. Well, I'm 79 and am on board with you, Stana. I'm not nearly as beautiful as you, but as I get older I, too, want to dress pretty much all the time. On occasion I manage to startle the UPS/FedEx/Amazon delivery person. An Amazon woman actually complimented me. I let it slide with a "Thank you" and didn't suggest she have her eyes checked. I haven't given much thought to "time running out" and I'll do my best to work that phrase out of my mind today.

You're an inspiration to me -- all of us, really! And you've demonstrated to us our possibilities if we stay focused on being our best female selves. Thank you so much.

  7. Stana, obviously your comments hit a nerve with many of us, myself included. And like you, I really miss being able to express my feminine side unencumbered. This time of year, has always been special for me as I usually do all of my shopping as Sally. I'm trying to do my part to help curb this COVID thing, so I haven't done any shopping femulating or otherwise.

    Hugs,

    Sally
