Actor Adrian Pasdar femulating in the 1992 British film Just Like A Woman, which in my opinion, is one of the best film depictions of the life of a femulator.

  1. I love Just like a Woman, but some of the plotting around the work situation is a little fanciful, I also think that the situation with the Police is certainly no longer an issue in the UK.

  2. Dear Stana,

I agree that JUST LIKE A WOMAN is a lovely film, and portrays crossdressers in a sensitive light. BREAKFAST ON PLUTO with wonderful Irish actors Cillian Murphy (in one of 3 films in which he femulates), Liam Neeson, Brendan Gleeson, and Stephen Rea, and directed by THE CRYING GAME's Neil Jordan is another fine film. Like THE CRYING GAME, it's two main topics are "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland and a beautiful Male-to-Female transgendered protagonist. Another fine UK drama with a main transgender theme is DIFFERENT FOR GIRLS.

    Love,

    Sheila.

  3. Stana, thanks for posting the picture of Adrian Pasdar from Just Like a Woman. Just Like a Woman provides one of the best and most sympathetic depictions of a crossdreser I've seen. I'm still kind of amazed this movie was made.

As Paula notes, the plot is a little fanciful (to be charitable), but it's such a warm hearted movie that I can overlook this shortcoming. Excellent performances from Adrian Pasdar and Julie Walters.

  4. One of my favs - along with DIFFERENT FOR GIRLS. Both handle the subject well - I even used JUST LIKE A WOMAN to help explain a few things to my then girl friend.
