How Women Move

I suspect we all learned at an early age that women move differently than men. Some of that is more physiological than societal. Because women typically have breasts, a narrow waist and wider hips, their walk is different that men. Men tend to walk is a very rigid, straightforward manner leading with their chest. 

CD’ers can try to emulate a woman’s walk but it takes a lot of practice and we need to constantly remind ourselves to loosen up. A good practice is to have somebody video you as you walk while dressed. Front, side and back views. Critically review them and you’ll probably see some things you can improve on. Try this several times concentrating on one specific area. Perhaps how the hips move? Or adopting a more leaned back stance? Maybe you need more pelvic tilt. After each adjustment, perform a critical analysis of your videos again. Once you’ve gotten it down then make it a habit to practice regularly. You don’t even need to be dressed, although a pair of heels might help. Remember, don’t clomp!

It’s Not Just the Walk

There are many more things that you’ll notice women doing. The casual slipping a finger under their collar to reposition a bra strap. Or sweeping their skirt under them when sitting down. For them, deeply ingrained. For us, its a novelty, if we even think about it at all. I fail at these things regularly. Sigh. 

A few more things you might notice are maybe tucking hair behind the ears to keep it out of the way especially while eating. Re-applying lipstick after you eat. Of course, handling your bag has to become normal. Keeping it close to your body when walking and making sure it is secure. Hanging the bag across the back of a chair when sitting down.
