I have often thought about having a personal stylist have their way with me. I think I do ok styling myself, but I always wondered if a pro would do better. Instead of just looking ok, maybe a stylist could make me look fabulous!
The local Macy's offers this service for free with 20% off of anything you buy – what a deal! In this day and age, I imagine there will not be a problem female-styling a male, so I may take them up on that offer.
Have any of you readers ever experience a personal stylist service? Do tell! Was the experience good or bad? Girls want to know.

| Rachel out and about shopping at Nordstrom. |

I actually made an appointment at a Macy’s personal stylist. It was actually a fun experience. There is a questionnaire you fill out giving your sizes and favorite clothing lines such a Calvin Klein because all of his stuff fits me so well and Macy’s carries a lot of his stuff. That becomes a starting point for you and the shopper. I was very upfront and admitted I was trans and this was not an issue with my shopper. An important thing when you make your appointment is to do it at the beginning of a clothing season. My appointment was as summer was spooling down but the winter stuff wasn’t in yet so pickings were thin in the store. She did apologize for that. It was great to have a rack of pre-picked clothes ready for me when I got there. You have a private dressing and viewing area in case you bring a friend with you. All you have to do is try on the clothing and see what it looks like. If you need sizing adjustments, the personal shopper will run off to the floor to find another size. I was treated great, had a lot of fun. Loved being pampered like this! Also brought a friend with me who was new to going out so she got a “shopping experience” without being as open to the public.I definitely would do it again. It was great to get an opinion from the professional shopper to validate my own style choices and hear that I was correcting picking styles and outfits correct for my body and body shape (rectangular to inverted triangle pre HRT.)
ReplyDeleteRachel looks beautiful! Love the necklace with her dress, and there is something so feminine about a girl with a big handbag over her arm!
ReplyDeleteI think Rachel looks so authentic. She is a middle-aged lady out shopping. Nobody would pick her as male.
