Jack Benny perhaps because he’s so realistically dressed NOT a civilian!!

  3. The Jack Benny photo is from a performance he did at the Friar's Club - he was playing Gracie Allen to George Burns (and if I COULD post a photo here, I'd do so)

    2. Jack Benny looks absolutely lovely in that video. His outfit is perfectly coordinated down to the last detail and his makeup is feminine without being cartoonish. He must have been in absolute heaven for every moment he had the privilege to present in that lovely ensemble!

As a kid I dressed up as a girl a couple of times for Halloween, but later in college my fraternity was putting on a series of skits for a big event with a couple of other frats and sororities. I volunteered to be a performer and it was asked if any of us would be willing to get dressed up as girls. Again I volunteered.

My role was suppose to be filling in for a girl who did not show up for the show. Maybe it was based on this Jack Benny concept, but I was teamed up with two girls from one of the sororities who were in charge of "helping" me dress up.

I am happy to say that the girls took their job seriously and "made" me wear a nice dress along with all the trappings. I did the appropriate grimacing, rolling my eyes, and offering Faux Protests, but in the end they dolled me up and it was a pretty special moment.

I've wondered over the years if the girls suspected I wasn't exactly new to dressing as a girl? Does it matter?

  4. I think there was an old joke about Jack Benny ' I could put a dress on him and take him anywhere!' because his walk and some of his gestures were considered a little effeminate.

There is no way Jack would spend the money on all those pearls
