My Favorite Angel

Who was your favorite angel?

charlies-angels2

In my opinion, Farrah Fawcett had more fans than the other two angels combined. She had the hair, she had the poster and she had the most publicity.

Despite Farrah’s popularity, my favorite angel was Jaclyn Smith. In my opinion, Jaclyn was more beautiful and sexier than the other angels. And she was the angel I wanted to be!

Fast-forward about ten years... I was attending my first transgender convention. A Hollywood makeup artist was at the convention doing makeovers for the attendees. After witnessing his demo, in which he transformed an average-looking transgirl into a glamorous queen, I signed up for a makeover (it would be my first makeover ever).

During my makeover, I asked him which Hollywood actresses he had worked with and he rattled off a few names. Then I mentioned that I thought Jaclyn Smith was one of the most beautiful women among the current crop of stars (circa 1985) and he responded that he had done Jaclyn's makeup a few times and that she had lousy skin that required a lot of work!

After bursting my balloon, he patched it up by adding that I had better skin than Jaclyn Smith!

Actor Jeremy Stockwell femulating in the 1970 film Dinah East, which is very interesting from a femulating perspective. According to IMDB, the plot of the film is as follows: A glamorous movie queen of the 1950s is revealed to be a man whose secret led to complicated relationships. As a result, Stockwell is en femme throughout the film and he does an excellent job portraying a female. His good looks, narrow waist and petite frame sells the femulation despite some inexpensive wiggery. The film has been difficult to find, but is now available from Netflix.

  1. My favorite Angel was Jaclyn, too! I'll have to watch the film Dinah East.

Thanks for giving us all a platform, Stana.

  2. My fave Angel was always Sabrina--Kate Jackson. I liked her combination of sass and brains with beauty.

  3. Dear Stana,

I hadn't really thought about which Angel I liked best before. Looking at the photo you posted, I think Kate Jackson would be my favorite.

I watched DINAH EAST about a year ago (DVD from Netflix). I remember enjoying it, and agree that the lead actor who played the title role femulated very well. I rated it 5 stars (the top rating). I don't remember if I thought it was worth 5 stars artistically (direction, acting, script, etc.). I sometimes will add a star or two to films with topics I like (like transgender topics) to cause Netflix's recommendation algorithms to suggest similar films in the topic. However, 5 stars from me does indicate that I thought the film was somewhere between good to excellent. There have been some films which featured crossdressing or other transgendered content that were so bad that I rated them 0 or 1 stars.

    Love,

    Sheila.

  4. Dear Stana,

I wonder if you're familiar with the Myers-Briggs MBTI personality assessment? If you are familiar, sharing your MBTI "type" and asking for your Femulate.org followers to post theirs (if they know it) might be interesting.

I am an INFP. This is a fairly uncommon type (especially for persons born male). Although now at age 69, I'm happy and content and finally accept myself, I have always felt like I never quite fit in with any category of people. I usually feel as a minority of 1, even within other minorities (like transgendred people). I still feel that way, but I'm now at peace with those feelings ... I'm OK being me.

I wonder if femulators (both crossdressers like me, or other transgendered or bi-gendered persons) mostly fall into a small subset of the 16 possible types?

You can Google "MBTI test" to find some free MBTI tests or official tests which you can pay for.

    Love,

    Sheila.

  6. Jaclyn, hands down, never a doubt. Lovely confidence. None of that preening Farrah, none of the too too earnest Kate. Absolutely perfect. I did not even have a clue how much I wanted to be her then.

    Thanks for the memory!

    Petra
