perhaps unsurprisingly it seems that apart from being bisexual, toff cecil beaton was also a serial cross dresser. what is more surprising is that despite all that, he was made a knight of the british empire. but then again, one suspects that both homosexuality and transvestism were rife (and deemed totally acceptable) within the privileged classes in great britain in the first part of the 20th century?
