Christian Sharia: GOP House Bans Sleeveless Women

Christian Sharia: Modesty police in the the Republican controlled House of Representatives are enforcing a new dress code for women.

The Christian puritans are at the helm, and the bare arms of women must not be seen in the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to a report filed by CBS, sleeveless dresses and blouses worn by women are no longer acceptable attire in the House chamber and the Speaker’s lobby, a location where reporters often wait for lawmakers in order to conduct brief interviews.

A senior GOP source told CBS News that House chamber security and the House Sergeant at Arms are enforcing new rules regarding proper attire for women entering the House chamber and the Speaker’s lobby, effectively becoming modesty police for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Under the direction of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, the Republican controlled House of Representatives is enforcing a new dress code for women. No doubt the Taliban would approve.

Maybe if those Republican lawmakers tried out wearing a cute fit and flare dress with a shrug and strappy heels in the D.C. heat they might change their minds. I suppose that's unlikely as long as the stuck up fundamentalist have their ear.

  6. Unfortunately for all women, I can foresee a return to Victorian style of dress imposed on us by the fundamentalists that control our government. Next it will be dresses only but must not show anything above the ankle.

Who made the rule? When did it go into effect? Was it a joint vote or if one sided, which side initiated the rule?

Once again fake news (previously known as poorly researched news) gets regurgitated by those too lazy to do some easy research. The current House rules re: dress are no different than they were under Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats. As a practical matter some of them are outdated, and usually not enforced. I like and read you for obvious reasons, but to not correct your albeit unintentional false statement shows that perhaps the truth is not as important to you as you would like others to believe. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/449305/paul-ryan-sexist-house-dress-code-false-media-story

  9. The newly enforced restriction on females is still much looser than the requirement for men to wear coats and ties. I wear a bra (cup size DD, narural tissue with no forms) so I find it awkward to adjust bra straps with a tie.

What is irksome is there was no advanced warning that the sleeveless ban was going to be enforced. And if I would be forced to wear a tie as a man I would be tempted to throw in a skirt and heels.
