I am my own wife

Due to my wife's health issues, I have taken on many of the tasks usually performed by a housewife. I do the laundry, buy the groceries, do the vacuuming, wash the floors and the dishes (not at the same time) and perform any other cleaning duties, as needed.

I usually do not cook because I work full-time Monday through Friday, so by the time I get home from work, there is not enough time to prepare a meal and eat it before we go to bed. However, I imagine I will also be doing the cooking once I retire from my 9 to 5 job.

In many ways, I am my own wife. And I am pretty good at it. More than once, my spouse has praised me and added that I should have been the wife and mother in our family.

Whenever she says that I want to blurt out, "Not should have been... I am," but I bite my tongue to avoid making her feel bad about her physical disabilities.

Lucky that I am such a feminine guy. I imagine that many manly men would not cotton to performing womanly chores, but I am not bothered by it. When I was a youngster, I enjoyed helping my mother around the house doing the cleaning and laundry. She was my role model and I guess it was inevitable that I would make someone a good wife someday!

  1. What's 'unmanly' about doing your share of the housework? Never understood that.

  3. My wife's knees have gotten bad, so I'm typically the one doing all these tasks. Rather than scoff at it, I've started to embrace it. I recently put together a sort of 50's housewife outfit. Problem is finding the time to actually wear it and still get everything done.

  4. My spouse also has health issues, both physical and mental. I'm glad to be able to help as much as I can. There are times that I would prefer to not be the one preparing dinner after working a ten hour shift at the office but it is ok. When we married, it was for better and for worse, in sickness and in health.

  5. Hi! I can relate to you as well being my own wife. My wife suffers from a lot of depression issues, and my 8 yo daughter needs help as well, so I too do 90% of the cooking, all the laundry, and the majority of the housecleaning. There are many times I feel like my own wife, and jokingly, a few of our friends have commented that I'm the wife of our house. I really wish I could tell them I am. Alas, not to be. When I work from home on our home, I try to look like any gurl in her 40s, leggings, loose top, and hair pulled back. Maybe this is what I was meant to be.

  6. Since my wife is disabled I do the chores around the house. Thanks to M2F HRT my I were 40 DD bras, and I have hips, along with hair longer than my shoulders. I also wear dresses aound the house.

One thing that is not feminine is my voice, as I sing basso profundo, and have a speaking voice that is deeper than most men. So when I would say,"I am the man of the house" the visitor would have no doubts.

  7. When I was young my mother was a nurse who sometimes worked evenings or midnights. Even when she was home, I had a younger brother who was somewhat disabled and ill a lot. So by the time I was 12, I was helping with the cooking and cleaning. For much of my working career I was on midnights or working out of town so my wife did much of the cooking. Years later, wWhen my mother developed dementia, we decided I should move back home and take care of her and my brother instead of trying to find a home to put them in. Thus I took over cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. During that time my wife had surgery, ended up paralyzed and had to learn to walk all over again. She does better now but still has bad days. We share everything as far as household duties now and she thinks I'm a better cook than she is (she's right).

  8. Ever since I can remember, which is a long time ago, I have been doing "women's housework". When I grew up my mother made sure that I knew where the kitchen and laundry were. Also as I grew up I realized that this area would be one of my more "natural" responsibilities in life. Guess that was when I first knew that there was a bit of a difference between me and the other boys as well as my brothers. It was a tough time to grow up uncertain. With the way the times are finally changing now, I was just born too early. Finally I do often get to do the chores dressed as I desire.

  9. Having one's spouse accept my cross dressing was a slow evolutionary process. Gaining her acceptance kicked into high gear when I would do the household chores while dressed. Cleaning the floors or scrubbing the walls in a dress or skirt, or vacuuming in a dress and heels or doing the cooking or cleaning while fully attired has become an acceptable arrangement. I told her that during her busy child rearing years she opined that she wished she had a 'spare wife' and now she does.
