I’ve been using AI to create images for the blog’s EnFemme Funnies and Someday Funnies, but over the weekend I stumbled onto something new—to me.
It turns out AI can take a simple drawing or sketch and transform it into a photorealistic image.
The process couldn’t be easier. I upload the drawing, type a short prompt—“create a photorealistic version of this image”—and a couple of minutes later, the results appear.
Naturally, I went down the rabbit hole. I tried various sketches I found online, and the results ranged from impressive to downright uncanny.
Then I remembered a sketch I had done years ago—a kind of self-portrait—and decided to let AI have its way with it.
Here’s the original image.

As a cartoonist and sometime graphic designer, I have a hard time with AI. I've tried looking at it as just another tool in the box, but I've seen too many other things drive real artists into obscurity. (and don't get me started on my acting/voice over career disappearing)
ReplyDeleteAll that being said, these results are pretty impressive.
Oh my, thats a great picture
