One of my regular readers, Tia, suggested an interesting topic: how do you get out of the house en femme without tipping off the neighbors? Are you sneaky about it or do you simply walk out with your head held high?
I must admit that I have never had much trouble leaving my house while dressed. But that won’t stop me from writing about the subject anyway!
It Depends on Your Situation
The answer obviously depends on your living situation. If you are out to anyone who might see you leaving, you can simply walk out wearing all your feminine finery. Perhaps your home is situated so that the neighbors cannot easily see who comes and goes.
Others may need to be more discreet. If you live in an apartment, condominium, mobile home park or another densely populated setting, your neighbors may see you coming and going regularly. That presents an entirely different challenge.
Sneaky Ways to Get Out
If you must be careful, you have a few options.
Perhaps the easiest—but most expensive—is to stay at a hotel for the night. Pack everything in a suitcase and check in as your male self. Then change in your room before heading out en femme.
There can still be a few tense moments. The front-desk staff or other guests might see you coming and going. You may even have to share an elevator ride, which could put the quality of your femulation to the test!
Another method is to get mostly dressed at home, then cover everything with loose-fitting male clothing. Carry your wig and makeup in a bag, put on a hat and sunglasses and hurry to your car. Drive somewhere private or secluded where you can complete your transformation.
It may be a little nerve-racking, but it gets the job done.
Or you could simply take a deep breath, hold your head high and walk confidently out the front door. After all, neighbors usually have far less interest in our comings and goings than we imagine.

Started with sneaking but evolved to just walking out the door. I do have a garage with automatic doors so could just pull out without wig and put it on later. But that was the old days.

ReplyDeleteYou might say I do the opposite. Yesterday morning I went to church "en femme" while wearing a dress, makeup, and heels. Nobody reacted as that is what John does. I also go shopping, walking, to doctor appointments, etc. while wearing dresses.
I don't get hassled or threatened in any way.

DeleteUsually I get en femme any place but at home. First, I don't store my girly stuff at home, so there's that. I rent a room in a house along with another CD. There used to be three of us that rented this room, which is basically a lot of clothing dressers, and racks full of dresses, mirrors and a vanity table, and a bathroom. Everything a boy needs to change into a girl. Even the neighborhood is perfect for coming and going, dressed as either sex . One of our roomies passed, so any gurls out there who need a private, secure place to store their finery and get en femme, in Mineola NY, let me know, we need a third to share the very low rent. email me at tamifeminine@gmail.com.

DeleteI always thought it would be fun to walk openly out the door and give the neighbors something to talk about. "Who is that beautiful woman he is seeing?" Although I've never fully 100% femulated and left the house, so this is just a hypothetical fun idea.

DeleteDuring day or simply under sunlight, I get mostly dressed at home. I carry my wig in a bag, put on a hat and hurry to my car. I drive somewhere I can complete my transformation. Under the guise of night I am a little more brave. It is all so difficult as I identify now as a trans (there are many different) and not out other than to my adult daughter who simply tolerates and wants my presence to be private to my granddaughter and persons of share awareness - with the exception of one lady who guessed as much.

DeleteI had responded to the link Stana when it was posted. On the issue of leaving my home undetected I was fortunate for a number of years that my street does not have street lights. I only had to deal with porch and garage lights. I could make it out to my car in the dark. Years later doorbell cameras came along which potentially creates a problem because they are activated by movement. My across the street had one which could have been an issue. I casually asked how far up my driveway it records. Although it did record movement on my property, it did not record where my car parked. It did record the car coming and going so I did have to make sure to drive away so the driver's side of the car was not recorded. Getting out of a well populated neighborhood can be a challenge these days.

DeleteThis topic made me smile as I think I’ve been through all these stages. First only getting out away from home, then the half dressed, put the wig and makeup on in the car thing, to finally just leaving home night or day. I’ve never formally met the neighbors as female, but came to care less and less. Should it happen one day, it happens.
ReplyDeleteOne note on the hotel thing and that I’ve yet to have one care at all. If any question comes up when checking in with a male name and ID it is “will both of you need a key?” lol. Even if they read me, they’ve seen much more concerning things than one of us and never seem to care.

ReplyDeletedeparture the time will come when your # comes up. eg. neighbor sees you driving out and flags you down because he has something to say. 2 close calls were enough for me. and the hotel route can be very expensive if you go out multiple times a week.So a condo,room ,or friend seem to be the only choice
not the only reason that i spend so much time at my mother-in-law’s 😉 but that arrangement helps with going out rather than even contemplating walking outside my own house. to me cross dressing is like living 2 separate lives that cannot meet.
ReplyDeleteI had the luxury of getting dressed up on business trips and then going out with the rental car. It took a bit of confidence to go to Target or Payless (it took a lot at first). On one trip, I felt so so passable I went to a thrift shop and found a business suit and heels that I bought to wear to a museum the next day and ate at Golden Corral that evening. It seemed that no one blinked or cared. Stana gave me wings of courage. I did leave my house twice at night but I did not put on lipstick, earings or a wig until I got to Ikea. Then it was “OK Brenda you got this and will blend right in” go get the frozen meatballs and if it felt right then enjoy the longish walk , heels clacking, to the front entrance. I chose to go 30 mins to closing hoping less shoppers, I was right. That was my last outing among civilians a year ago. I was so feeling totally enfemme, I almost forgot to quasi male myself on the drive down my street. Yep, cameras! Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteCocker Spaniels are bundles of energy, and I walk my girl about 5km daily. In 2016 I decided I was no longer going to be hostage to whatever the neighbours may or may not think and began among others going to church and walking my (previous) girl in broad daylight. Quite often people smile and say “good morning” to me, some even make small talk, and a few times I have received unrequested compliments on my outfit from genetic women. I of course dress and behave like any run of the mill woman my age and size. I guess that being only 175cm tall and 71kg helps me…
